Junior Weekend Competition Information

Season dates: Autumn – February to June (14 matches)
Spring – July to December (14 matches)
Home venue: Mentone Tennis Club
First Street & Nepean Hwy, Parkdale
Away venues: Saturday’s – various clubs around the Moorabbin District (up to 15min drive)
Sunday’s – various clubs around Bayside (up to 20min drive)
Start times: Saturday’s Home matches: 8am or 10am
Away matches: 8:30am unless otherwise informed (could be 8am or 10am)Sunday’s Home matches: 9am
Away matches: 9am unless otherwise informed (could be 8am or 10am)Players must arrive 10min prior to the start time to ensure play commences on time.
Finish times: Anywhere between 10am to 12pm (depending on start time & availability of courts). Competition normally runs for around 2hrs.
Grades: Saturday’s – Boys & Girls Sections
Sunday’s – Unisex Sections
Further Info: Each team may have 5 players who will rotate throughout the season. One team member will be the Captain and a parent/guardian will be the Team Manager.

A team of 4 players play each week.
Each player will play 1 x doubles and 1 x singles match first to 6 games.

The Team Manager will be responsible for doing the playing roster and the morning tea roster for the season. The morning tea roster is only for home matches were one parent/guardian is required to provide morning tea ie. juice/ cordial and biscuits/fruit for their team and the opposition (depending on Covid Restrictions).

Registration

All new competition players or any past competition players that are in the Excel Tennis Coaching Program wishing to register for the upcoming competition season need to follow the below Enrolment and Payment Process.

Please note both the Enrolment and Payment Process must be finalised before your child can be submitted in a team.

Current Competition Players will reregister through the Mentone Tennis Club Junior Delegate.

Enrolment Process

  1. Email Excel Tennis at coaching@exceltennis.com.au with confirmation your child would like to play in a team at the Mentone Tennis Club for the entire season strictly by:
    • Wednesday 15th November 2023 for Autumn Season
    • Friday 24th May 2024 for Spring Season

    Please also include:

    • Preferred choice of Saturday or Sunday morning competition
    • Players Date of Birth
    • Parent / Guardian Name(s)
    • Best contact phone numbers and email
  2. Excel Tennis will work with the Mentone Junior Delegate and endeavour to place your child in an appropriate team. Either Excel Tennis or the Mentone Junior Delegate will respond to confirm there is a place and payment to the Mentone Tennis Club must be made promptly to finalise the registration.

Payment Process

  1. Ensure your child is a financial member of the Mentone Tennis Club.

    Spring memberships are 12months and will cover 2 seasons of competition.
    Autumn memberships are 6months and will cover 1 season of competition.
  2. Pay a $30 Player Registration Fee to the Mentone Tennis Club with the membership application. This is paid once per season and assists to cover the cost of items such as team entry and tennis balls. Please note: Both these fees are paid to the Mentone Tennis Club bank account, not the
    Excel Tennis bank account.

Once the enrolment and payment process has been finalised and your child has been submitted in a team, either the Mentone Junior Delegate or your child’s Team Manager will be in contact prior to the commencement of the season with further details.
