Junior Weekend Competition Information
The information below is provided to assist families who are new to junior weekend competition in understanding how it operates and how to register.

| Venues | Home Venue Mentone Tennis Club First Street & Nepean Hwy, Parkdale . Away Venues Matches are played at various clubs, generally within the Kingston City Council and Bayside City Council areas. On occasion, matches may be scheduled at clubs outside these boundaries |
| Match Times | Saturday Competition Home matches: 8:00am or 10:00am Away matches: 8:30am unless otherwise advised (may also be 8:00am or 10:00am) . Sunday Competition Home matches: 8:00am or 10:00am Away matches: 9:00am unless otherwise advised (may also be 8:00am or 10:00am) . Players are required to arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to ensure matches begin on time. |
| Match Duration | Matches typically run for approximately 2 hours. Finish times are usually between 10:00am and 12:00pm, depending on start time and court availability. |
| Grades and Team Structure | Saturday Competition Boys, Girls & Unisex sections . Sunday Competition Unisex sections . Each team may include up to six players, with four players competing each week and rotations occurring across the season. . Each team will have: * One Team Captain * One parent or guardian acting as Team Manager . Each player competes in: * One singles match * One doubles match Matches are played first to six games |
| Team Manager Responsibilities | The Team Manager is responsible for: * Creating the weekly player rotation * Organising the morning tea roster for home matches . For home matches, one family provides simple refreshments such as drinks and snacks for both teams, subject to any current health guidelines. |
Registration for New Players
All new competition players wishing to register for an upcoming season must first complete the enrolment process. Once a place has been confirmed, the payment process must then be completed to finalise registration.
Current competition players will re-register through the Mentone Tennis Club Junior Coordinator.
Enrolment Process
Please email Excel Tennis at coaching@exceltennis.com.au to confirm your child’s intention to play the full season by the following dates:
- Monday 17th November 2025 for Autumn Season
- Monday 25th May 2026 for Spring Season
Please include the following details in your email:
- Player’s full name
- Player’s date of birth
- Preferred competition day (Saturday or Sunday)
- Parent or guardian name
- Best contact phone number and email address
Excel Tennis will work with the Mentone Tennis Club Junior Coordinator to assist with placing your child in an appropriate team. Confirmation will be provided by the Junior Coordinator once placements are finalised.
Payment Process
Once confirmation has been provided by the Mentone Tennis Club Junior Coordinator, families must complete the following steps to finalise registration:
- Ensure the player is a current financial member of Mentone Tennis Club
- Pay the competition registration fee
Membership Periods
Spring membership covers 12 months and two competition seasons
Autumn membership covers 6 months and one competition season
Competition Registration Fee
A $30 player registration fee is payable once per season
This fee contributes toward team entry and tennis balls

Please note that all membership and competition fees are paid directly to Mentone Tennis Club, not Excel Tennis.
After Registration
Once enrolment and payment have been finalised, your Team Manager will be in contact prior to the commencement of the season with further details regarding fixtures and schedules.
