Frequently Asked Questions
1. At what age can my child start tennis coaching?
We offer coaching programs for children from 3 years of age. At this stage, sessions are designed to be fun, interactive, and age appropriate, with activities that suit shorter attention spans while developing fundamental movement and ball skills.
2. Does my child need their own racquet?
No. We have loan racquets available for use during lessons. While owning a racquet is recommended over time, it is important that it is the correct size and weight. Our coaches are happy to assist you in selecting the right racquet when needed.
3. Can I purchase a racquet through Excel Tennis?
Yes. We offer a range of junior racquets available for purchase, starting from $29.
Please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
4. What should I wear and bring to coaching?
Players should wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement. Tennis shoes are preferred, although flat soled runners are acceptable.
In warm weather, we recommend a hat, sunscreen, and a drink bottle. All tennis equipment required for the lesson is provided.
5. How do I enrol?
Simply click the BOOK NOW button on our website and follow the instructions. Our programs are popular and places are limited, so early enrolment is recommended.
6. Can I enrol after the term has started?
Yes, subject to availability. Fees will be adjusted on a pro rata basis. Please note that preferred days and times cannot be guaranteed once a term has commenced.
7. What happens if it is raining on the day of my lesson?
If you have not heard from us, please assume your lesson is going ahead and attend as scheduled. Please do not contact us regarding weather.
For Junior Group Coaching and Holiday Programs, sessions will move to an undercover or indoor area if outdoor courts are unsafe.
For Adult Group Coaching, Cardio Tennis, Squad Programs, and Private Coaching, participants will be notified by text message if a session is postponed due to unsafe conditions and the lesson will be made up.
8. If I miss a group lesson throughout the term, can a make-up lesson be arranged?
Yes, in certain circumstances. To be eligible for a make-up lesson, the Missed Class Form must be submitted at least 24 hours before the scheduled session start time. This allows us to offer the vacated place to another participant.
If sufficient notice is not provided, the lesson will be forfeited. Please refer to our Missed Class Policy for full details.
9. Can I get a refund if I miss a group lesson?
No. Group lesson places are reserved in advance, and coaching costs remain the same whether a player attends or not.
10. Do I need to re-enrol each term?
Current participants are automatically re-enrolled for the following term and are given priority placement, unless we are advised otherwise.
Please note that enrolment is not secured until payment has been made by the due date.
11. Can my child progress to competitive tennis?
Yes. Players in our programs may progress into competition when ready. Our coaching team is happy to advise on suitable pathways and development options.
